NEWBORN SESSIONS

WHEN SHOULD I CONTACT YOU TO BOOK MY NEWBORN SESSION?

Newborn sessions can't be booked too early - I recommend reaching out in your second trimester. You guarantee availability around your due date by booking early, but last minute and later requests can often be accommodated. Newborns are best photographed in the first two weeks of life, but years of experience have shown that I can capture priceless moments at any age.

CAN MY HUSBAND/PARTNER/KIDS PARTICIPATE IN THE NEWBORN SESSION?

I consider all of my newborn sessions to be family sessions, and some of my favorite photographs are baby with his/her parents and siblings (if they have them). There is nothing in the world like those first few moments as a family, and capturing those moments for you is the driving reason why I do this job.

WHERE WILL MY NEWBORN SESSION TAKE PLACE?

I prefer to do all newborn sessions in my clean, modern studio on Kent Island - the studio is designed for comfort! We have everything a new mom or family could want - from comfortable places to sit, to a fully stocked changing table, to an entertainment center for big siblings. No detail has been left uncovered. There is nothing you need to do to prepare, and nothing additional to worry about. All you have to do is come and relax.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR NEWBORN SESSION?

Baby will spend most of his/her time in a diaper or swaddled in various wraps. If you have a favorite outfit or two, bring those! As far as family, you want your photos to reflect who you really are, so wear what you feel best in. My one piece of advice is to start by dressing Mom first! Find something she feels comfortable and beautiful in - most moms come in their favorite maternity jeans and a top that makes them feel good, and then build everyone's outfits around that. Think coordinated vs matchy matchy.

HOW LONG WILL MY SESSION TAKE?

A typical newborn session lasts between 1-2 hours. We take breaks for eating as the baby requests and always follow baby's lead. Babies are great about letting us know when they are done!
