Oh this family <3 They definitely stole my heart! Mom is a style consultant, and I'm pretty sure you already knew that by looking at her pictures, who else could possibly look that fabulous after having not only a newborn but a two year old at home as well! (This is sort of an aside, but she does closet clean outs with clients and oh. man. do. I. need. that!) I'm telling you, you should check her out and use her services - who better to help you figure out what to wear for your photoshoot than a style consultant? ;-) Anyway. I'm getting off topic, and lets get back to the matter at hand. LOOK at these cuties! <3 I loved this session. I loved being able to capture the sweet connection between mom and baby, and the quiet moments the two spent together while breastfeeding. I loved being able to capture the fun and spunky personality of big two year old brother. I loved being able to get all five (doggie included!) together, sharing a moment with a book. Love. I look forward to when I get to meet up with this crew again :)
Lately I have been really drawn to lifestyle newborn sessions. As opposed to posed sessions, which I feel like focus on the baby, lifestyle sessions to me tell a story and capture the amazing connection between parents and their precious child. I love to incorporate both of these types of photography into my newborn sessions, but lately I'm really feeling the tug toward that connection. What is more beautiful than love like that? My session with sweet baby W. and his parents was one of those amazing lifestyle sessions. I was floored by the visible connection this group has. The eye contact. The awe. This, right here, is why I love my job. <3
This little one stole my heart the minute I laid eyes on him. I mean, how could he not? Look at him! I'm pretty much obsessed with baby chub, and his is glorious. I've had the honor of working with quite a few little fighters this year, and this guy is among them. It makes my heart sing to see babies who might have had a tough or early entry into the world, or a longer stay in the hospital than anticipated, thriving and just generally being awesome at home. And this guy? He's clearly quite happy to be home :) I loved meeting this trio in their beautiful home, and I look forward to working with them again in the future!
I'm going to tell you a secret. Are you ready? I have favorites. It's true. When I see families over and over and I get to see kids grow up through my lens, I can't help but fall in love with them over and over again. I'm pretty sure that qualifies someone as a favorite :) So, these guys? You know, them? Remember? Definitely some all-time favorites <3 Can you believe how big those kids are getting? So big! I love how expressive they are too, especially big sis. And she's as smart as a whip, with a killer sense of humor. I can't wait to see what kind of personality little bro will have :)
I love big families. Love 'em. I have one myself, and I see other people's and I think: YES! I love the noise and the chaos and the surprises and that the amount of love is multiplied by so many :) I know from experience though, that when you have that many kids and you want them all to do something... well... it doesn't always work out as planned. I think when that happens it can make a session even cooler, and you can really get to the heart of true expressions. And, you know, sometimes you get some grumpy faces - but hey, it's a real picture of what they are like in that moment! Life isn't always magazine perfect, I prefer real life to a magazine any day :) I loved meeting the H. family. I hope I get to see them again soon! <3
There are some sessions where I want to share every. single. picture. on here, and I have to restrain myself, otherwise you'd be here all day. This is one of those sessions. Gorgeous family? Check. Awesome location? Check. Really good time, lots of laughing, beautiful sunset? Check, check check. Really, you can't ask for anything more :) Oh! And a certain little one is pretty close to celebrating her first birthday - so send some birthday wishes her way! :)
I was smitten with this family the minute I walked through their door. Perfect house, adorable children, super, suuuuuuuper nice people. It doesn't get any better than that! The star of the show was of course Baby P, and isn't she just gorgeous? She was an absolute doll for our session, and watching her snuggle with her parents and her brother made for one awesome afternoon. These guys can go ahead and have another any time, I can't wait to meet up with them all again! :)
How cute is this guy? I mean seriously, how cuuuuuute is this guy? He's too much, right? I LOVE my job :-D In my job I see lots of moms and babies and I'm always struck at how everyone has their own style of calming their little ones, and this mom and babe had one of the sweetest relationships I've ever seen. I know I talk a lot about dads and daughters, but moms and sons? Just as wonderful. <3
We got up bright and early to catch this little miss at her finest (unlike grown ups, it seems that all kids are morning people ;-)), and she did not disappoint! She dazzled us with her beautiful smile and was a total joy for her session. Singing the theme song to her favorite show, Bubble Guppies, definitely did not hurt either :) Her grandma and grandpa's house provided the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous morning. Her mom and dad wanted to capture her in this moment and remember her at this age, and I can't say I blame them. One is such a blast, their personalities are really developing and they are such fun little humans. Happy birthday sweet little G, it was wonderful to meet you!
When your dad works for the Ravens, it's pre-determined that you will be their biggest fan ever. So, when this sweet little guy made his appearance, it was natural that the purple and gold also made an appearance as well... and a super bowl ring! :) This little darling was a perfect little model for our session. I'm pretty sure he didn't even make a peep! I did get some gorgeous baby smiles though - and the snuggles, ohhhhh the snuggles <3
On a beach in Costa Rica in 2008, I was lucky enough to photograph two amazing people say their vows and begin their lives together. At the time I had no idea that we would become lifelong buddies... but yep, that we are :) I love these guys. I feel so fortunate to have been there to see it all begin, and to watch their family grow and grow again, and now I'm in love with these two little stud muffins as well :) It's sad that they live in Michigan, which is just so far away from Maryland :( But every time we get together it is like no time has passed <3
Once upon a time, long, long ago… Ok, really it was about 9 years ago - I met a group of amazing, supportive, intelligent, beautiful women on an online forum for destination wedding planning (fun fact about me: I got married in The Bahamas and am a total sun and vacation junkie!). What grew out of these wedding chat sessions was a friendship that has endured through years, weddings, jobs, moves, kids, and countless other life events. These friends are my rock, and I cherish my friendship them more than I think they even know <3 Unfortunately we are spread from one end of the country to the other, so I don't get to see them all that often, but when we do get to get together it's always a blast. Our families blend seamlessly, at this point our husbands are also old friends, and our kids have known each other since birth.
So, last summer when I was in Michigan visiting my grandparents, there was no way I was going to leave without making a stop in Detroit to see the G. Family (and the R. Family too! They're up next!). And this gorgeous and talented family (you may have seen him on Broadway in Jersey Boys, in his killer one man show From Broadway to Obscurity, or a multitude of other projects, and she is a super talented cookie maker/decorator) was made to be in front of the camera… so you'd better believe we did a little mini session :) Oh, and these just might be my future daughters-in-law, not that we have plans or anything ;-)
She's here! Sweet baby girl R. is here! You remember her gorgeous mama's maternity session from a few weeks ago? Well this is the little love we were waiting for… and now that she's here it's time to meet the rest of her family :) Mom was more than ready for baby R's photographic debut, and had a bunch of special and sentimental props for us to use. See those pearls? Those were her mother's. I love, love, looooove things like that.
This was such a fun session. I love being able to capture that relationship between bigs and littles, parents with their first born and their new born, brothers and sisters, and brand new families of four <3
Have you learned by now that I am a sucker for daddies and their daughters? I am. Total. Sucker. And then this sweet dad basically one upped every other dad by holding his little girl and singing to her. Want to know what he sang? Life's A Happy Song from the newest Muppet movie. It goes like this: "Everything is great, everything is grand I've got the whole wide world in the palm of my hand"
Yeah. That happened <3
This whole session was like that, sweet and wonderful. It's no surprise since this is a sweet and wonderful family, and an adorably sweet and wonderful baby girl. Welcome to this world, Baby S. :) Your mom and and big brother love you so!
This gorgeous mama asked for a maternity session at home, that was soft and cozy. She wanted to capture this time spent awaiting her baby girl, and those feelings of warmth and togetherness. I think the mission was accomplished, no? :)
These guys. THESE GUYS. I have serious love for this whole family. I would really just like to take them all home with me. How cute are these little faces? I've been in love with these two big boys for years, and then their parents went along and added another one to the crew. Swoon! <3 Do you remember them from mini sessions in years past? I'm pretty sure you could never forget these smiles. Baby C. is just as perfect as can be. I can't think of a better addition to this family. Can you imagine how much fun it's going to be to grow up with these guys?
Newborn photographs are best taken before baby is 2 weeks old, because that's when those little ones start to streeeeeeeetch out, and stop happily curling into little balls of squish. But Miss M. played by her own rules, and at four weeks old was a perfect little model and slept sweetly for our whole session. Love! And how about a fun fact about this gorgeous little miss? Her big sister named her! How cool is that? When I was pregnant the only suggestions my kids could come up with for names were "Color Crew" and "Baby."
I had a great time with this family <3
I couldn't wait to meet little Mr. C and his big brother. I had talked a little with his mom in prep for our shoot, and I knew I was going to be meeting a fun little family, that was full of love, and I was so right! I meet a lot of little ones, who show me all sorts of different personalities, and let me tell you - C is one of the most inquisitive, interested newborns I have ever met. This little guy was not interested in sleeping, even for a minute. He was intently watching everything happening around him, which was pretty cool! He didn't want to miss a single second :) So, we got some great awake shots - as much as sleepy babies are the way to go for posing, I love capturing big, beautiful wide open newborn eyes - you just know there's so much wisdom there. Babies are cool :) He eventually gave into sleep, and we did get some squishy poses (including in an antique crab basket his mom has, how fun is that?). This is one sweet family :) Brothers have a special place in my heart :)
Prepare for an overload of images here, because I loved every single second of this session and the resulting pictures take even my breath away. I loved this shoot. I loved meeting this beautiful, awesome, fun, happy little family <3 And oh my, their house was so pretty, and the light? A photographer's dream! Little Miss L. was a perfect baby for our session. Even at six weeks old, she was a teeny tiny little thing :) but her sweet temperament radiated out of every pore. I got more smiles from this little lady than any other newborn, ever!
I'm smiling now, uploading these. Love. Hope to see this group again soon :)
Oh sweet Jacob. Sweet, sweet Jacob. Is this what all number fours are like? Easy, laid back, adorable? If so, sign me up :) Jacob rocked my socks off. This guy was quite the little gentleman for our session, he posed like he's been rocking the cover of GQ magazine for his whole life. This session was the perfect balance between solo time for little man, and documenting his awesome family. Jacob has three older siblings, all of whom are quite smitten with him, and a mom and dad who think he's the bees knees as well :) My take home? Big families...they're pretty great :) <3
